Whenever someone here talks about the EU, I kind of scratch my head. With so many exceptions and opt outs exercised by the participants on so many aspects, it seems to be little more than a nebulous trade association. Every country still has its own government. NATO is still the military alliance. The benefits of the open borders on travel disappeared (to me) once the terrorists affected air travel. The only time we hear about the EU here is when it complains about some aspect of trade or its time to bail out another member economy. The UK is a great country and I wish you all well.
