The dealer needs the AUZ number off the side of the unit and a chassis number.If it's a later unit these can also be got from MVB81 on vagcom etc.Where it should store the original ChNo+AUZ,but not always
The problem can be,there are a large number of stolen and iffy RNSEs floating around,and Audi may/can cross reference and report the unit as stolen! Lots coming from Poland/Russia.
Normally Any full chassis number will do but best to use the original the unit came from ,but the AUZ number is a must.The car doesn't need to be connected to the dealer diagnostic tester to get the security code.In fact ODIS is S###on older vehicles.
