I recently had various bits of the dash apart on my 80 Sport ( tracking down the non indicating indicator
).
I found the immobiliser ( about 1992 era as well !) and although reasonably fixed the terminals were not that great and there were small bits of bare wire/strands in places. I remade a couple of connections then re-wrapped all the connections with self sealing electrical tape.
