Yeah I'm sure more modern injection and ignition would offer an advantage but at what cost, maybe beyond its worth for power gains so I was going to keep it simple although not totally ruled out as there is someone local who maybe able to offer a cheap (ish) solution.
First off though I would like to get hold of one of the conversions, push comes to shove I look at a 7a block and kv block I have here and start playing.

I miss the S2, the 350z is a "better" car, but I don't love it the same. I miss quattro, and turbo power delivery, however I don't miss having to fix it as I don't have time this year so a turn key car that is still fun fits the bill for now.
A 170-180hp 10v will be a big improvement anyway, like a 7A with a better soundtrack.
Have you thought about picking up a complete 2.5tdi engine or car for the block/crank?
