On front wheel drive cars the rear wheel bearings are adjustable, so you may be able to nip it up. If its dying I would just replace it, they are cheap so by the time you get it apart and clean it to grease I would just fit new.

Its straightforward to do, most difficult part is the calliper carrier bolts if they are seized/rounded out. I would have new calliper carrier bolts on hand as I would be prepared for the allen key to strip out.
