If you carry on that way down furlongs road, keep the sea on your left, past the playing fields, you'll get to a right turn with a patch of concrete road and a smaller road off to the left. Go down there and there's a pullover to the beach on your left and a little overgrown path in front of you where the road turns right.
Go down the path and it opens out into a bit of waste ground (known as acre gap locally) good playground for a mountain bike.
To the right of the mound is a gate onto a gravelly private road, that takes you onto sea lane, swing a right and the a52 is at the end.
Or do a left on sea lane and you've got the coast road to chapel st Leonards. It's a bit up and down though. Don't bother with the seafront, it's covered in sand once you get past the golf course.
