Normally will get Shell Helix HX5 15w-40 for oil change with additive (STP or bardahl) added between intervals. Mechanics suggest this oil suitable to older engines. However service intervals may be shorter compared to semi syn or fully syn oils.
The fact that the engine were running dry of oil might be the reason for this failure. The warning light was working, but ignored,plus false advise from mechanics.
