I had a 100 Coupe S many moons ago and really battled to find a head gasket for it. The C1 engine was still a pushrod engine and that's why that gasket has the large openings to the side of the cylinder openings.

Ah that explains it. Never owned a VAG car with push rods ... Yet.
Probably hard to find in the rare event that someone needs one.
Thanks for the steer - will measure the gasket bore and do some more research.
