I've been reading this thread with great interest for the last half hour, here are some thoughts....

I don't entirely agree with this, modern Audi's are not better, they are different. By way of explanation, I drive my A6 and it's comfortable, smooth and quick when you want it to be. I like my A6. But I don't love it. When I drive my 200q I am involved in every decision the car is making, I feel everything through the steering, the car 'talks' to me and because of that when I drive it hard I know exactly what it is doing. All the time. I make the decisions, I'm in control, and I enjoy the driver experience that comes with that. The A6 is sterile in the sense that it's the on-board computer making the decisions for me, thus taking away the driver involvement, the driving experience. And while this may make it safer, it doesn't make it fun. I like my A6, but I love my 200q. A love that Leggy no doubt has for her 80.

I have a daughter 14 months old, but I don't compromise on what I drive because of that. She gets to travel in comfort and style, and in a solid car which I feel keeps me, my wife and my daughter safe. I would rather crash in an Audi, than crash in anything made in China, Japan, Korea or France for that matter. I know this from personal experience. If any of you had been witness to the crash I had in my 1986 80 Sport a few years ago, you would understand how I feel in an Audi. Had I been driving anything less (and modern) I would be dead. Simple as. So you can show me all the crash tests you like on youtube, but in real life it's a whole lot different, and I wouldn't trust my life to any other car make. Just because Leggy doesn't have children doesn't mean she would compromise if she had. You can keep your 12 year anti rust warranty and whatever else they throw at you to make you think you're getting a great deal, none of that means shit when you're facing down the barrel of a crash. It is of course, all personal choice, missfire you make yours, and others of us will make ours. We shouldn't be berated for that, but you will never convince me that a Kia is a better car than any of the classics that we own.
