I've seen much worse back in the day when I used to own a mini (had two in fact!) at both the 30th & 35th (might have been 40th!) anniversary events at Silverstone.
Like them or not, the fact that it sold for so much just tells you how much the old mini's 'are' worth even when they're in such an appaulling condition, and to be honest, restoring it will not only add to what has already been spent, but it will also decrease the value considerably.
Personally, if I were the buyer, I'd be keeping it as it is and storing it somewhere incredibly secure as a future investment, but I'm not the buyer, so I can only hope that the person who is has the sense to realise this.
