Vag com is the way to go for the vag cars, not expensive, the other 2 brands no idea, obd2 is the current standardised plug for all makes. I did see an obd2 reader in a Real supermarket in germany last week made by aeg for 69 euro, that i imagine will scan anything, whether it could erase codes or not i don't know that's probably where the more expensive kit comes in. Vagcom though is excellent had it for years now, if you are using it on older audi's you will need a 2 x 2 lead on the newer cars it's obd2
