Yes each to their own, but I understand why you made that decision. Changing suspension components can result in lengthy ABS fault-finding after reassembly. And it is something else to go wrong which because it's too early to have plug-in diagnostic ability, can cost in terms of labour finding the problem.

Yes, ABS was very rare on CQs, not many people took up the £1200 option back then as it was a lot of money to spend.
