Charity Car Rally - Yorkshire - This Sunday !!
Last minute I know, I should have thought of this before now, but the Heckmondwike & District rotary club have, for the last 7 or 8 years organised a charity car rally in which we have raised several thousands of pounds.
Starting at the The Star Public House in Roberttown Village, Liversedge (WF15) this Sunday. A full english breakfast is served from 8.00 AM to 10.00 AM for driver and co-driver, where you are given the route of approximately 80 miles through scenic countryside. The route is different every year, it maybe Lancashire, Derbyshire, The Yorkshire Dales or somewhere else, then back to The Star. The entry fee is £20, and there is always an interesting mix of classics of all types. The concours is not a concours d'elegance, but there are trophies for the first 3 places. I acted as judge for 4 or 5 years.
I'm doing the route this year in the 16V Sport to give my 9 year old some navigation practice ! It would be great if any local members would like to join us. You can register on the morning. There is usually a guy turns up in a red 5 pot, series 2 80 quattro, although I don't know who he is. The weather forecast sounds promising and there is a large beer garden for those with children.
