Two flaws in your business plan:
1.) Dodo's have only two 'o's not three in your D**do's
2.) They're extinct so chances of getting a good enough stock of them is going to prove tough :P
Seriously though, your best bet is to set up a small operation through either eBay or Amazon. This will give you a flavour for the running on a tinternet business and the potential rewards If you like it and/or make some decent dosh from those ventures then you can go about setting up your own website and start that way (you'll incur search engine listing fees as well as advertising costs, domain costs, etc etc) so make sure your anticipated sales (and gross margin) are big enough to swallow up these costs.
I set up an eBay company when I was on holiday in Mexico two years ago realising that there is a potentially huge market in selling foodstuffs through ebay for quirky items. However when I got home I realised that ebay is already awash with loads of similar ventures. That sort of company would stand up well to its own website though. You would not believe the prices charged (and I've paid) for quality flavoured macadamia nuts from Hawaii (Americans are so insular that you cannot buy direct from any US website unless you have an american register credit card AND have the items shipped to a US confirmed address).
If you have a contact in the staes who can source such products then you could be onto a winner.
