I don't trust Halfords to mix paint. I got them to make some up for a vauxhall corsa. It was a white car, and I had the correct paint code. But when I used it, it had a green tint to it. I took it back, and they said they'd try again. But when I saw the state of their paint mixing equipment, I made them give me a refund. They were using the same paper cups for several different colours so it was no wonder it came out wrong.
I just chose a nice bright white, got a mercedes colour and it was a perfect match for a cheaper price.

Another complaint about Halfords paint (and this time I'm talking about their ready mixed aerosols) is that some of them don't seem to harden out properly, even a few weeks after the paint's been left to dry in the sun. I used their Zinnober red on an old BMW, but when I tried to polish it I noticed it was still soft enough for fingernails to leave dents in it. It's a shame because it was a perfect match.
I gave up with their paint and used car plan / tetrosyl. Some car spares shops have a cross reference colour chart and it gave Rover red 14 as the nearest match. It was about 98% perfect so I used it to respray a complete bonnet.

I used to work in a branch of Halfords many years ago. We had a catchphrase about the company but it's unrepeatable
