I think the chip also alters the ignition curve and timing because they advertise them with increased fuel economy. Simply increasing the fuelling would do the opposite.
A simple resistor fitted inline could fool the ecu into enriching the fuelling but theres more to it than that.
I drove a few more miles today and its easy to see/feel that the drivability ahs improved with more ability to pull at lower revs in any given gear.

I wonder how much difference a ported head would make? plus a tubular manifold?
