Exhaust recommendations for CGT
Anybody have any thoughts on a new, but upgraded exhaust for my 1983 Fuel Injected CGT? I'm looking at replacing from the CAT back. A hole has developed near the muffler and I was figuring to upgrade it all while I was at it.
Custom pipes, with a commercially available muffler and tips? Suggestions please. A little more rumble than factory is hoped for. |
I had a Scorpion stainless steel one on two of my GT's and they sounded great.
Poor design with the joint over the rear axle let it down slightly as the cars were lowered and on tight cornering it used to hit the axle (especially with passengers in the back). Uprated springs pretty much cured the problem. |
My pal Daz has a peco one on his, it sounds great! and is stainless!

My CGT is running the stock downpipe, then a 2.5" system consisting of a 24" Coby/Hotdog resonator type of thing sitting roughly in line with the front seats and a small conventional box type muffler tucked behind the bumper. Not stupidly noisy, just a very deep throb to it... enough to turn heads when I do give it a serving of right-foot. Not droney at all either:tup: Does set off car alarms in parking buildings at idle though:halo: |
Noted gentleman.
Looks as tho' I'll be having custom pipes done with a aftermarket silencer/resonator. Several people seen fond of Scorpion. |
