For Alex's sister-in-law who's just passed her test (at 32!).

Something like a Polo/Fiesta/Corsa.

must have long MOT as well!

Plenty of plus points and would tick plenty of boxes for me but I think it's gotta be smaller than a 1.4.
Single mum, first car, cheaper tax bracket which means nothing too exciting.

Jesus you time it well. One of the bods at work sold, on Saturday night, an L reg 1.4 Polo Sport in White. With those rintzy little 13'' x 7.5J ATS Classics with Yokos on. Adjustable Spax also and a G40 interior. Fantastic looking little car and it was only at Wimblebury. It was worth 650 quid all day long......and the first person to see it, bought it. ...............Sorry.

Damn, could have got that just by splitting it.

I'd have had the wheels off it as a "finders fee!!"

Depends on the type of car make, insurance group and area she lives in more than the engine size, as she is over 30 she is not going to get clobbered as hard as a 17 yr old who's just passed their test, so she may be better than you think insurance wise.

Weird thing was some insurance quotes were less with my wife on the insurance (on a provisonal license) than they were for me on my own (no points, no accidents, full no claims....!) on a group 19 car. Insurance quotes vary so wildly that you may get a good deal somewhere if you spend the time shopping around a bit.
