This was one of the best rallys that I've ever been to. I went into a very cold mid wales in my first ur quattro along withmy brother and step dad. brilliant day!!

I would have loved to have done this sort of thing back in the eighties and nineties but my Dad was just not into Motorsports at all. Mind you come to think of it, neither was I back then. Loved the way all the service crews were staring at the Ur.

Yeah, I was really lucky because I only just caught the very end of group B era, so this was a real treat to catch the rally properly, it was really special .

At the first location, just listen to the throttle control of the top drivers....

Awesome...

If we ever get to Phil Prices in Knighton...you'll learn all about that, trust me. If you dont get the hang of it, you end up going everywhere backwards!!

The best bit was the banging from the tail pipes as they were coming through the forests...I think caused by the full throttle gear change/anti lag systems fitted to the cars. my brother said It was like being in a forest in Bosnia!

Crackin video. We were there too - I went to uni in mid Wales in the mid 90s so we made sure we were out every year - proper bobble hat style, running down the stage between cars, to get to the best spots!

brilliant vid, i have a few like that, i remember seeing Kankkunan in Dalby forest on the RAC that year, and you couldnt stand on the track for snow and ice.
they had a speed trap just as you drop into the woodyard, and i think he tripped it at 95 mph.
my god.

Great vid, hard to believe it was 17 years ago!

I was lucky, afew in my family are into motorsport.
I remember hiking for miles,in the Kielder Forest. It was dark, snowing and very cold.We walked along the track and found a spot on abend. As the first car came along, loads of flash guns went off.We had walked past loads of people and didn,t even see them.(So dark)
Brother went up in a Kadet and the fly wheel broke.
The good old days.
