will running different size wheels F/R damage quattro transmission?
As title really..
will running different size wheels on Front & Rear damage the quattro transmission? If i drove with 195/50/16 on the front, and 195/60/14 on the rear, would this damage the car in anyway? (i can swap them round if this helps) Its only to get to the garage and back, but they are the only legal tires I have available to me at this second in time and i need to get it to a garage. Also, Is it 100% legal to drive with such a configuration? |
i wouldnt worry too much bout legality, i drove my 80 with no tax+mot and it crabbing all over the place down to the garage the other week at 20 mph

Prolongued use of different size wheels will damage the centre diff. A short trip would be ok but I wouldn't do more than a couple of journeys like it. The official sizing differences are 2mm max difference in rolling diameter across one axle and 4mm difference between front and back. This slight variation is possible to allow for tyre wear but this is why you shouldn't have brand new tyres on the front and bald ones on the back of a quattro driven Audi.
