Why do u think it's isv, huh?

saint001 03-09-09 01:33 PM

hiya where to start ....she rough idles when first turned over tickes over at 900rpm then drops to 400rpm then up to 1100rpm all within 100/sec and keeps doing this till you get fed up off kangerooing and people laughing !! .under load feels like the ignition is retarded(had the car serviced less than a month ago ,all the sensors were replaced rad ,water flange etc so i know its not that, had a split pipe replace because she was sucking in air.oh yes and about nine months ago my local garage said that they had cleaned the isv because they said it was "dirty".and thats why i think its the isv but if you can help with any ideas ....that would be GREAT.
yours loosing my mind simon

It isn't isv. Stucked isv would make engine stall instead of iddle or there would be very high iddle, several thousand rpms.
How about MAF ?

Carb cleaner will get most of the dirt out, take the ISV off and watch it with the wire connected you should see it move as it warms up i would also check for blocked / split hoses

i find the best thing to do with the valve is just unplug it .

The best thing is to solve the problems which cause ECU to do that.

If its kangarooing, id be looking for a split air pipe between the throttle body and air flow meter, or any other hoses split/hanging off.
ISCV wont have an effect on the car whilst its rpms are above idle really and itll not create that hopping about youre experiencing.
Got any engine bay photos for us to have a snozz at? Good ones please?
We may spot something obvious.
