Guage readings

Picking up my 80 sport next week and was wondering what the oil pressure guage should be reading. At idle it was around 1 and on fast idle, around 1500-2000, was just below 5. Does this sound about right?
Thanks, Phil .

On my 1.9 5 pot the guage reads about 2 and a half bar when fully warmed at idle then goes off scale when driven (which I assume is ok).

However when I put the heater fan on full speed the oil temp guage rises and pressure guages drop considerabley. I guess there is a voltage drop somewhere but it did freak me out last week when I put the fan on to cool me down a bit then panicked cos I though the engine was about to overheat/run out of oil :yikes:

that sounds good as long as have over 2bar at 2000rpm your good

Phew, started to panic a bit

Seemed to run ok anyways, but did have a bit of an oil leak from the cam cover gasket. 1st of many jobs to be done

if it's an 8 valve thats normal change the rockercover gasket to a rubber one that'll stop it

Engine oil of 1 bar at idles nothing to be concerned about as the engines not under any load, if however that situation was occuring at revs and load then id be worried, but yours sounds good to me.

mine always sits at around 3.5 at idle and then off the scale at any rev. but i always wondered about my oil temp. it never moves only slightly above 60, im guessing its not working?

...but it's absolute minimum. My 3A iddling @ 1-1,1k [MAF potentiometr gone as usual] had something about 2 bar and 5k about 1,8 when fully warmed up. With worned out main bearings @ iddle were 1 bar.

What shows voltmeter in that moment?
If there would be not enough oil in engine [and that's about 1 liter below minimum!], pressure would fluctuate :)

the voltmeter drops too, less than 11 volts on a healthy 12 volt new battery.
