Dimmer switch for CQ
Hi there
I'm getting my CQ into an MOTable position but the one thing still left wrong with it is that the instrument cluster lights don't come on when I turn the lights on. I've taken the dash apart to see that the dimmer switch and connectors are a complete mess, molten plastic and bodged glue everywhere. With that in mind does anyone have the dimmer switch TOGETHER with the connector and a small length of the attached wires as I'm goign to need to splice on a new length of cable because the others are so manky! Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Dave |
do you need to be able to dim the instruments? Can you not just hard wire it at full brightness? I don't ever dim mine down.

Not being a sparky, but I would guess you would find the input wire which goes into the variable resistor (the dimmer), and find the output wire (going to the display bulbs) and put a wire between the two. The input wire will come from the headlights circuit, so the dash lights will only come on when the headlights are on. Does that make vague sense? |

dashboard lights are not part of the MOT test. Neither are the reversing lights and front fogs so it won't fail if they don't work.
Headlamps full and dipped plus alignment, side lights, indicators, brakes and tails, hazards, rear fogs and dashboard rear fog warning light and number plate lights are the lights the inspector will test. |
how many switches do you want, i ve a few sets

Just one of the dimmer switch and the connector that it's connected to as mine melted away and has been reglued badly by the last owner!
