BMW 635 coupe
i've been thinking of being 'unfaithful' to the coupe quattro last few days..
& I've been considering a few cars i'd quite like to have as a bit on the side.. :ihih: A Nissan 300ZX twin turbo for one, :D but more prominently i've been lusting after an old BMW 635 coupe, having always had a 'thing' for them for quite some time. Most of my m8s would like me to get the 300zx, and i can see why  as its the closest someone like little ol me is ever going to come to owning a 'super-car', but at the moment, a part of me is more drawn to the beemer as it would be much more 'unusual' and a rarer sight on the roads. I always like to be different in my choice of car, and just like with the CQ its nice to know i'm behind the wheel of something no one else has got.. and that i'm not likely to see another identical carbon copy of it coming the other way every 5 minuets thru :finger:. :moon: I was thinking of one in white? similar to this maybe? What you think? opinions please.. :) Also, i don't really know anything about this these cars, so any info would be much appreciated. thanks. http://www.oldcaronline.com/files/64933_1.jpg http://www.oldcaronline.com/files/64933.jpg http://www.oldcaronline.com/files/64933_2.jpg http://www.oldcaronline.com/files/64933_3.jpg |

nice car i had one a few years back 86 model henna red the later the car the better .m6 is the one but pricey. kick down and she flies. also the best seats i have ever sat in recaros no back aches. should have kept it sold it for 4000 to a bmw mechanic. just watch the front wings on these prone to rusting and filler. i also am looking for something else at moment my audi 200 q turbo been off the road 4 months now will not start , up at Bens at avperformance. best of luck. And unlike Audi, parts are still available on the whole. And the price for them wasn't bad either! They do have a habit of rusting so tread carefully! |

Rust on an E24 is not something which might come if you don't look after it. It's going to happen whatever you do - even if you take it into your home at night, let it sleep in front of the fire, and fondle its nether regions daily with a soft fluffy cloth. These things were designed in the same era as the MkIII Cortina and the similarities don't end there. After a huge (£14k) restoration in 2002, my E24 is still lucky to even come close to the condition of my original, untouched 20v quattro RR. It's never been as good as the shell of my WR which was out of its bodywork warranty by the time my 635 was hatched. Trade an Audi Coupe for a 635. :nono: BTW, the white one in the pictures above is all wrong. Step away from the vehicle. Walk away now. :wierdo: |
Get a 635i the M30 engine is fantastic easy to work on etc. Watch out for cracked cyclinder heads they are a pain in the ass.
I had a M30 in my E30 it was great, tonnes of power  I like the old 6 series as well its got this majestic look to it. I also like the E28 5 series, you can get that in a 535i as well. They are very juicy though. 300zx is a nightmare to work on, just look inside the engine bay and imagine trying to fix anything on that! Also parts are expensive, another juicy choice. |
i know of an M535i in need of restoration in NE scotland. Body shell needs a LOT of work the engine runs sweet. its the dog legged gear box as well.
My brother is tempted to buy it for a transplant to his E30 touring, he got the E30 but swapping for his 90 2.0 five pot last year. |
M30 is a brilliant engine. Problem is the metal work that was built around it.
Unfortunatley, I think Iain's quote sums up most of these motors: Quote:
