Whats the best exhaust
 

Want more 5 pot sound. What's a affordable but good exhaust. Do I need complete system or is the something else. I dont want to sound like a boy racer, just 5 pot sex!!:rock:

I believe Jetex do a reasonable system. Not tried or heard it myself

The "best" exhaust is the one that gives lowest backpressure and has the correct pipe diameters and tuned length to give best extraction ....thats the clever answer....or is it? :D :idea:

Stick you head up around the back of my old Rally rep, thats a very nice sound, mind you thats completly strieght throw with no baffles and only a fake back box on it

Or as a noon turbo car have a good listen to Bootys, his is just about spot on, its got the correct note and noise level as Dave Preicces Coupe quattro rally car

And, and this is very important, it's not just the exhaust that makes the noise. The 'state of tune' of the engine is probably more important than the exhaust for noise. Since 4V6 rebuilt / uprated my head ( ??!!) the sound has changed dramatically. Especially when Tony put the plug leads in the right order anyway 'doh'. Then when PSI put the vernier pulley on her and timed her to 27 degrees advanced and we ran a certain addditive in it, the sound has changed again to a really nice raspy burble to a really loud raspy howl on the way around the rev range. I reckon Powerflow would build you a decent system as you can choose the size of boxes you want. Personally I have no issues with Powerflow as they built a totally de-catted 3'' stainless system on my 90 quattro 20v Sport and she sounded awesome ( ask Kenquattro). I think that some people have had poor service off Powerflow but remember they are Franchises. What about the C.A.C. system that Gaz has on his Cq, bloody good quality and sounds nice too. Worth a look.

Nige's old rally rep sounds good! :smilewinkgrin: I'd suggest cutting the rear box and having a welded straight pipe in place (like mine). Looks neat and can be done very easily without a lot of money spent. If you cut the hangers off the box you can weld them on to the straight pipe when you re-hang it, so looks neat. :tup:

Oh...and it sounds excellent (nice deep burble 5-pot sound without being too loud and not being a boyracer)!

Big Nige and Ian are staying at mine on Friday night so we'll see if we can get some video of mine and the sound on - the - go so to speak.
