concert radio volume fault
 

it seems this is a common fault with the concert radio, low volume or absolute blasting:yikes:.i can find loads of referances to it on the web but cant get an idea of the price. does anyone have an idea how much this fault costs to repair? or am i better getting a new head unit?:confused:

This sounds like a faulty volume potentiometer to me.

Does it crackle as you turn the voulme up and down?

Should on be pennies if its that item thats worn out.

Dealer replaced mine under warrenty ;)

no doesnt crackle just full blast or next to nothing sound! not under warranty either as the cars near nine years old:nonod:and i have yet to come across a fault in an audi thats cheap!!!!:lol:

I have an identcal fault on the toyota.
However it does crackle and can be wiggled to get it about right, but it can go from no sound to ear bleed in a second or so....
Amplifier has a control voltage that sets its output, without the voltage controlling it , it just goes full blast...or sumfing similar. :)

It's not a faulty pot. It is apparently a memory issue where the memory is used to store the volume setting but gets overwritten.
Had exactly the same issue with mine, and if you set the volume and also then had the TA active, when the traffic info finished it would go back to whatever it was doing before but at MAX volume. Scarred the proverbial out of me when it first happened.

There is a company in Swindon way that will repair them for around £80 but if you need one for an A4 (I think) check out Audi Staffs (I think) on Ebay at the moment, as they have some reconditioned ones for sale at around £90. Just search for Audi Concert and it should come up with them.

I would just get a reconditioned one or a new one. They are usually about £80 odd quid with a guarantee. It is a very common fault on this unit. Have a look on ebay. There is loads of them on there. Staff Audi are worth looking at, too.
