Spax VSX - Lowering Kit
I recently bought a Spax VSX lowering kit that reduces ride height by 40mm. I thought about getting adjustables so I could get lower ride height like Coxy's B2 Sport. But my budget is not that big especially after tinting the windows recently :o
The Spax VSX kit consists of springs and gas filled shocks and is fairly straight forward fitting it to the car; replacing the old with the new. I have had it on the car for about 5 days now and yesterday carried 4 people comfortabely which I was pleased about. The cornering has vastly improved, giving the car much more control and easier streering through bends. The ride hardness has increased slightly but not as much as I expected which I am also pleased about, so if you are looking for comfort rather than rock hard spring rate then this is a perfect blend of the two. Overall impressed with the quality of the kit compared to the price. Would I reconmend Spax VSX? Yes I would  Pics to follow... |

Looks great b2.
I'm in agreement on the color too. Dark is very complimentary to this body style, and only gets more "sinister" when lowered. Sweet |
How much does this Spax kit for an 80 or a front drive Coupe run cost wise, for all four corners?

Near as I can tell from sites in the UK the Spax (or similar) kits, springs, shocks, and hardware run around 400 British pounds or $660 US.
Can anyone confirm this? I'm trying to balance the cost of a SPAX type set up with additional overseas shipping versus coil overs. Near as I can tell, no one in the US has these ready made kits any longer. The only real option in the US is custom fitted coil overs which run a $1000 in parts plus at least a full days skilled labor for retrofitting/fabrication. Obviously the coil overs have additional adjustability and multiple shock options but the cost is a serious consideration. So far I haven't found a UK / Euro provider for the kits who ships them overseas. I'd have to beg some help from one of my friends on this forum. |
