Power inverters

Has anyone got any experience of power inverters?
Do they plug into cigar lighter or directly by croc clips to the battery
do you need to run the car at the same time?
What sort of power can you get from them? I'm thinking about charging scooter battery from the car on long days out.
Any recommendations?

Easy to use Stu and they are cheap enough. They either go into the 12v lighter socket or you can clip them onto the battery terminal. Either way if you use one just make sure that you do not cover the air to fan intake grill up.
