Alternator connection on Audi 80 type 85
 

I have been advised that my alternator needs renewing but I can only find new alternators with the dirct bolt connections. My wiring loom has the plug type. GSF only carry the direct bolt types.

Is it possible to rewire by removing the plug to fit the direct bolt connections or do I have to try and find a recon alternator with the plug connection??

Any help would be great!

Being picky, yours is a 1.8 saloon ? that makes it a type 81. Type 85saloon would be a 5 cylinder and porabably have a different alternator?

direct bolt type should be easy, case of snipping wires as close to the plug as possible, stripping back and crimping an end on that matches your alternator...
