678 miles & just one

Just to say over BH weekend on my trip to Morecambe via M4/5/6 including visit to Stockport & south again via Leeds & return via M1/A43/A34/M27; only one C plate CL spotted on A46 (north of Bath I think).
My trusty Sport (155k) returned just shy of 44mpg (using V-Power) :D, but did burn 3/4 of litre of oil! :yikes: Cheers.

44mpg! Superb. My 80 regularly returns high 30's on the daily commute but 44mpg is bloody excellent! Especially when you compare it to what supposed green cars return.

.

Yes; I get 38 pretty regular, but that's mainly a commute of 110 miles round trip, plus a bit of local running around. Just over 40 on a good run, but that was exceptional: Mostly cruising @ 70, plus a bit of light footed X country from Morecambe to Leeds. (I alternate between 95 & 98 octane - supposed to adjust timing for one or other, but don't get any pinking!) My other Sports - early ones - never seem to better 35/36, even though they're lower mileage. This one (D30 NPP) has always been good on fuel, but I think I'll struggle to equal 44 again. Run to Essex at the end of the month, so see what happens then. Cheers. G.

There isn't anything greener than engine in good condition with correctly adjusted injection :) Despite politicians and car manufacturers who say something different :D

Yes; the artist formally known as 'Optimax'. I read that 'Optimax' was minimum 98 RON - more like 98.5 & 'V-Power' is supposed to be at least 98.5 RON & more like 99. I find the 97 Esso super unleaded is pretty good though. A couple of years ago BP brought out (in selected; primarilly South East filling stations) a 101RON, but it was very expensive & I think was withdrawn?

What's the reason to pay more expensive fuel than needed? :) I think Audi for DZ engine had specified 95E. Higher octane rating than manufacturer had specified means that u can increase compression and/or boost, if u haven't done anything of that, it's just waste of money :)
Btw in estonia one guy owns Toyota Supra with 1k bhp which is daily car and which runs on 95E - at last some years ago it was like that, maybe now there has something changed.
