Wtd. 17" (or nice 16's at a push) for my '80 coupe - 4x108
As above.
Would like some different wheels for my coupe as the ones I bought it on aren;t to my taste. These will be up for swaps/sale. Almost mint bar small kerb rash about 2" long on one, with almost new 205.40.17's. Wheels alone cost over 500£ 6 months ago, and considering the tyres I'd like as damn near 399£ for them as I can get. The wheels I've got for swaps, if you've got something? http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n...Image017-2.jpg http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n...Image019-4.jpg So, what have you got for me? |
is that 'shadow chrome' ? :)

Pretty sure it is,yeah. the wheels themselves are actusally alright, just not my cup of tea.

To avoid having rubber bands for tyres (fine for a track car only) I would locate some 16" wheels. Just watch the Offset..

Cheers for the suggestion, but even on the 40 profile it rides suprisingly well, especially compared to my type85 or my old golf GTI's.
It's only gonna go another 30-40mm lower on the front, so I think 16's with bigger tyres might look a bit wank. TBH it was criminal they came out of the factory with 15's and balloons for tyres! Keeping my eyes out for some 17x8 Azev A's, probably with a 205/45 or something on them. |

TBh it depends on pricing, if I can get some decent 215's at a good price I'll go for that. Same with 205/225. The wheels on the car at the moment are 17x7.5" with 205/40's and that doesnt look bad. An extra half inch wouldn't look that silly. As you can see from the pics of the wheels the 205/40 looks fine on the 7.5J. So, anyone got any wheels for salllle? |

Attached my PAssat wheels (225 on 7") and a friends Lexus (215 on 7.5") and the ur quattro looks better with 225 on its 8" rims too. |

and they don't look ridiculous  |
Cheers for the input :)
In my opinion the 225's on a 7" dont look right(edit - read - look a bit chunku for me). The 215's on the 7.5 look fine though. Known a few cossie boys who happily run 205/s on 8's and they get some serious stress. Obviously the lower the width you start to compromise traction, but I'm only gonna be cruising around (and like I said before, this is already in a different league for comfort compared to anything else I've owned). Also, never kerbed a rim if I know I've got nice ones (give me steelies and hubcaps and I'm bumping up and down kerbs all day :D) as I try to be so careful, because I simply cant afford to go replacing or refurbing wheels. Vag80 - Any pics of the 205's on the 8J? I'm thinking some borbet A's may look fit. |
