Lowering gear for my '89 Coupe (not 80-esque)
 

Need some lowering gear for the coupe.

Would like 60mm or more... ideally.

Its not the 80 coupe shapre, despite the year.

I'm in Cornwall, or Brighton, depending when you catch me.

GMax do 40 and 60mm drops. I doubt you can go any lower without converting to an air ride. 60mm could make the ride very harsh. I can't speak from direct experience but there is experience on the forum on this. I am on a 40mm drop and it's not the most comfy ride.

Ride isnt a mssive issue hopefully, once I have a standar interior again. My last two golf GTI's have been down around 100mm on coilovers and havent been the nicest of rides.

I'm not sure if -60mm springs might kill the shocks in time, but we'll see.

I suspect this is the kit you want. I would give Gmax a call before ordering to confirm obviously.

So on the other hand any audi 80/90 kit should fit (non quattro?)

Mine is only the wee 1800 4cyl, so that would be OK? Spring poundage wouldnt be wrong for that compared to a 5cyl 2.0?

thats about how it seems. Here is a kit for the 1.6/1.8 Audi 80 which should fit. In all honesty it would be best to contact GMax direct and get their advice.

Hi Lewis, Just got my coupe back from garage with new 60mm GMax springs. Will post pictures tomorrow. Looks bloody fantastic. Ride, ummmm.... Choppy!!! Depends if you are going to use every day, if thats the case go 40mm. Just for weekend's and shows go 60mm. The product code for 60mm is 30 AU 04 L £98 INC delivery..
