door rubbing strip bonding seal removal
how the buggery do you remove the black mastick/bonding seal crap off the car from where the rubbing strips were? hair dryer no good/acertone no good/plyers no good. thinking of using paint stripper heat gun
|
Ah that eternal question.
Wel i pondered very much the same conundrum some years ago on the coupe, result- got it all off but by heck..... Anyway, i used a stanley blade to shear off as much as i could- took me days and then cellulose thinner iirc- however, i was repainting the panels and id not do the same again. Stuff like nothing ive ever come across before- i reckon its some kind of epoxy/2 pack derivative but what exactly i dont have a clue. Wish you could buy it tho! |
gawd knows without lifting the lacquer! I think you've got as much chance as seeing God!

You could try Mastic remover, it dissolves mastic, it might work?
|
Its the same stuff as windscreen bonding sealer

Has to be good stuff to stick screens in as the bonded in ones are effectively part of the structural strength. Does this product have a trade name? And can we get some? Got some Diy thatd work well with that stuff methinks! :) |

Excellente! :)

sorry to dig up an old post but did this get solved in the end? because i'm swearing and shouting a lot at a 1mm by 1mm bit of glue that i'm convinced if I can remove it, the rest will follow.
Help? :( |
