1981 1.9 carb
 

I have a123,000 mile 1.9 coupe barn find I have stripped and the body is away being welded.

I am in the process of striping the engine and if the bored look good enough will look to fit oversize piston rings and possibly new pistons.

Any advice on approach and suppliers of bearing shells etc?

I'd suggest an engine machine shop to check the bores - they may just advise a re-hone rather than going oversize.

Same machine shop will likely be able to assist with sourcing the shells etc

What was the reason for the stripdown ?

Ok good point, opening up the cylinder head this weekend so will know if any issues are there.

Strip down is a check on 10 years of not being run. I am doing a full restore and want to know engine is at its best as I want to use regularly when complete.
