Thanks folk that's superb.
If you've got one Mark, yes please... it looks like item 7 for a RHD car. |
I'm not back in the uk/south for a few weeks. I'll see if I can get someone to dig them out.
You do need two. The cable hooks into one, mounted in the balance lump, IIRC, and the balance lump hooks into the second which is mounted in the transfer arm. They're reasonably cheap, though. Or they were. Looking at the thread on the other channel, JimH used the ones that Darreno'd linked to above. |
Yeah, use that Ebay one. It's much better than the original. The Ebay one is made out of some kind of rubber, the original one appears to be made out of some kind of soft foam which eventually crumbles to dust.
The ebay one was easy to fit with some mk1 spittle lube and pipe wrench type pliers, but only if you assemble in the correct order. I think the bush needs fitting into the lever before the cable is fitted to the bush which ISTR being counter intuitive at the time. The cable feels nice and secure in the Ebay bush and I haven't noticed any downside. |
Thanks folk,
I have had a chance for a closer inspection today and 'found' this, which I assume is item 5 resting behind the carpet... http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/g...pssy8kyllk.jpg http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/g...pslbosdio4.jpg As a temporary fix to get the car home I had just attached the cable straight to the lever and adjusted the cable accordingly, not realising there was a chunk of metal called 'item 5' missing. http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/g...pskhcbkcdc.jpg The question is, what does item 5 actually do? This is what the RallyRep looks like which is the CQ set-up... http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/g...psozm2x60z.jpg PS - Just ordered a couple off ebay... |
Get the Volkswagon equivalent as it does not disintegrate like Audi's.
For some reason VW use urethane bush rather than the rubber Audi one. |
The metal piece is just a weight probably to aid the return of the pedal to its home position. You need two of those bushes did mine today!!!
