Audi Cabriolet 2.0E problem

My Cabriolet has a juddering problem. I have noticed it recently that at motorway speed (between 60-70) if I lift off my foot from the pedal and then subsequently press it again just enough to maintain the speed (around 3000 rpm), it starts juddering but normalises if I accelerate :nonod:. Also, going uphill a little steeper hill, accelerating 1st and 2nd gear no problem and the 3rd gear around 3000 rpm it losing power and not accelerating any more, even slowly decelerating... even if floored. :confused: I'm thinking it must be some sensor that causes this phenomenon but knowing as much as I do, I have no idea what :D
Sometimes it does some slight juddering and being hesitant at lower speeds and rpms too. :hmmm:

Sounds like you could have a misfire? If the insulation is away on the HT leads then the spark will use the dirt on the lead to go to earth, you could try cleaning the leads, check condition inside distributer cap as well. Do the leads have the metal heat shrouds at the plug ends?
When were the plugs last changed?

I have changed the 4 plugs (Bosch Super 4) back in august after I have bought the car. the ones that were replaced were in good condition but have replaced them anyway.
Ignition leads are a good point, just checked and they are full of hairline cracks all over. It does look perished. couldn't see a crack that is wide open but still... She's definitely getting a new set. They have metal heat shrouds yes. Will check the distributor cap too, just in case.
What leads do you recommend?

Cheap leads are a false economy, btdt. My 90 prefers Beru ones, they are the right length to start with and the hesitation issues i was suffering intermittently were banished straight away :tup:

ABK engine I take it, I had a similar problem with my old 2.0 Sport SE, which we never solved, the guy that bought it from us fitted a new distributor
