motability scheme
Any of you lot out there on the motability scheme? Due to my on going health problems (i wont bore you with the details) I have become eligible for this and im struggling to find a car i like and that is suitable for my needs. I currently drive a c5 a6 2.5tdi Quattro avant as a daily (which ticks all the boxes for me..apart from the mpg!) and I also have my b2 coupe gt5 which isn't getting much use at all atm. Id love to keep both cars but i cannot really afford to miss out getting a brand new car on the scheme so sadly the a6 atleast has to go, id like to find a good home for the coupe as well as i think i will probably struggle to drive it soon. Ill list both cars in the for sale section soon. Anyway my first port of call was my local Audi dealership offering the a1 a3 and q3. Due to the recent price capping of the scheme the Audi range is quite limited compared with some of the other manufacturers, im able to pay a reasonable amount for the advanced payment but im loathed to pay any extra to spec the car up as it goes back after 3 years (and who knows i might not make it that long!!!) id like to stay with Audi or at least vag group but the q3 isn't really my thing and neither is a low spec a3. Any Ideas? Cheers Dave

Sorry to hear about you situation, but understand the draw to a new car...
We have an S1 but test drove lots of A1's and they were great fun and quite well equipped as stock, I also have an A5 and they are doing lots of dealer incentives on those at the moment so if mot ability will allow it take a look at them I have a Black Edition Plus and it's fully loaded , even more so than the S5 I have just ordered.. |
Thanks.....the a1s a little small for my needs, i could get away with something a3 size but the range on offer are quite low spec cars ( im used to having a higher spec older car usually 100k+ on the clock complete with electrical gremlins ) i have looked at a q3 which was nice but the driving position doesn't suite me... although i can get Quattro on the q3 ..... i know im going to miss having awd . I've looked at merc a series and a gla but didn't like either of them much. The only car on the scheme I've test driven and has put a smile on my face dare i say it is a bmw 120d m sport!!! But after having the a6quattro.....rear wheel drive and 190bhp is scaring me a bit especially this time of the year. Id love an a5 but unfortunately theyre not on the motability scheme list.

Have you looked at dare i say it on here Ford's ? i only ask as my wife picked up an ex Motability scheme focus with all the toys and it has suited her perfectly  nippy zippy thing it is
I hope you get sorted and wish you all the best mate  |

I vowed never to buy a ford again after owning a sierra saphire a long way back! I pxd it for my first Audi 80 and never looked back! I'm sure theyve improved somewhat since then!

Not sure if the x drive is on the motability list, ill have to check it out, they have just added some 3series models, I've booked a test drive in a 320d eco drive touring. Never thought id be looking at bmw but you seem to get alot more as standard for your money without having to pay for the optional extras. Same with merc Skoda and Volvo, I could go for something basic with little or no advanced payment but i think id rather keep hold of the a6 than have something a bit boring. I did look at a Citroen cactus.......but my missus said she'd leave me ..........

Audi wanted 540quid to add sat nav to the a3 (around 700 if i retro fit it after the cars ordered) comes as standard on the beamer Volvo merc etc....i don't want too many toys just some comfy sports seats, possibly sat nav and a decent stereo...im gonna miss my tape player in the a6! The one thing i do want is a full size spare wheel.....the beamer doesn't even come with a space saver just runflats.........i apologise again for mentioning bmw! .....im a die hard Audi fan but there's not much they offer on the motability scheme, i think i will have to keep hold of the coupe just to keep my hand in!

 the funny thing is she got it 10 years ago so the car is now 13 years old and she wants a newer car, it has not rotted away or had any serious issues in that 10 years :shake: the killer for it is £265 a year road tax for a 1.6 Zetec :yikes: i have no idea what she will look for now :lol::lol::lol::lol: As i said before, good luck in your hunt and i hope you get something great ! |
