Audi 100 Brake Bomb ?

My Audi 100 sometimes has the red warning lamp flash, and the audible warning as well, indicating a possible low operating pressure on the brake servo. The handbook says there are other things that can cause this warning as well, but I reckon it probably is low operating pressure, because, if after the light goes off, you pump the brake pedal a few times whilst driving, it comes on again.

Anyone know where I should start looking first. Pump, pipes, brake bomb ?

If it's the accumulator, anyone know how much they are and how easy it is to replace ?

I got a spare, whereabouts are you? Untested though.
PM your details and if it works, send me £15 after you've fitted it and it works.

brake warning.light

Hi. I had the same problem on my 200 quattro red triangle warning light, i replaced the brake acumerlater. Brake bomb. 100 pounds from a ebay site .easy job. But this did not solve the problem. Fitted new brake master cylinder. Still the light came on as soon as i touched the brake pedal . New calipers. Pads , brake hoses, new disc, still no luck . Had to disconnect wires from the brake master cylinder. As mot due and that would have failed. No more warning light . But brakes were fine. Passed mot. Still have not connected wires . Problem unsolved. Bart.

Is the red warning light supposed to flash for a few secs,or until brake pedal is depressed ( I dont mean sitting on a high building looking grim!).
Mine does this, only since I changed the brake pads and discs though.

Now,I do know I need to bleed the brakes.
Maybe a fluid change matey.I mean, how many of us change our fluid every 2 years as youre supposed to.Im going synthetic soon so I cant forget. This is unless I manage to SELL my car on PISTONHEADS,hint!

there is a way to test the bomb, it holds approx half a litre of power steering fluid under high pressure and this assists the brakes under extreme braking by firing the fulid out under pressure.

To test if the bomb is past its best or not run the engine for two minutes then turn off and start pressing the brake pedal, you should be able to get at least 10 depressions before you lose the power asist, a new one will give as many as 40 depressions.

Paul at custom auto craft sells them for 119 euros if you need a new one
