1970's Lancs area VAG dealers help?
 

Hoping someone might be able to help. I'm trying to get a set of dealer plates made up for my '72 GT Beetle.
Now, I have no idea what dealer originally supplied it, so I may have to take a little gamble here! Reg is VTC140L so TC - Bristol (Lancashire to 1974).
So, as it's 1972, it's a VAG dealership in Lancashire! That doesn't narrow it down to much, so what I'm after is if anyone in the Lancs area knows of any similar reg's as they usually came in batches from dealerships, or if they know of any VAG dealerships in the Lancs area. Now, given that this was Lancs in 1972, the area was much bigger and probably includes most of Manchester!

Any help appreciated!

Al, if you send a V888 form to DVLA, it will have the supplying dealer info on the registration form when new.

A clue will be in the 'V' as it will be only issued from a local area, and not the whole of Lancs.

Spot on & probably no guessing needed.

At the very least you will get the first owner's details & narrow the area down; when TB/TC/TD were all Lancs registration marks they were mostly issued in the SE of the county, ie Manchester, Bolton, Bury etc.

When I worked at Sainsburys in Chester in 1984 one of the other lads had VTC 134L, also a Beetle.
