Where's the police when you need them?
So, it seems the old rule about using the car horn has been removed from the highway code.
Now. A taxi driver is allowed to use it as he wishes, as often as he wishes, with impunity. According to the lazy feckers here, backed up by the police! There used to be a law about this. Signs of the times, I guess. |
There still is Mark.
Sounding of vehicle horn whilst stationary Contrary to regulation 99(1) of the Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986, section 42 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 and Schedule 2 to the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988. Sound motor vehicle horn on restricted road at night (built up area, eg 30mph zone) Contrary to regulation 99(1) of the Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986, section 42 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 and Schedule 2 to the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988. And night is defined as between 1130pm and 7am.. Fixed Penalty £30 I think? Never issued one, an almighty bollocking of biblical proportion relating to the respect of others, coupled with an Armed Bstard's spontaneous roadside MOT test, normally has the desired effect to invoke shame and rapid injestion of humble pie!!! To translate, what I clearly mean, is that friendly advice at the roadside, relating to antisocial behaviour issues, usualy promotes the required cooperation, assistance and understanding, throughout the interaction!!! |
Do planes have horns?:hmmm::D big loud ones?

I'm glad you posted that , Steve.
Starting this morning, since 7am, I've been woken no less than 8 times, by a series of taxis, including several of the same driver. Hooting every few minutes until their customer comes out. This is everyday occurrence. I tackled the local police about this, who told me that taxi drivers can do this, so long as it isn't after 11pm, and therefore they will be doing nothing about it. I'm flying late flights. usually made even longer having to fill in laser attack reports post flight, too. I just hope that passengers don't mind being flown by tired pilots! |
Paintball gun. Against taxis or homes of those lazy bastards who calls them.

Are you in Scotland Mark? Legislation may be slightly different up there but the RTA 88 is what we use...... If they do, they've clearly forgotten about the AND BEFORE 7am part!!!! Plus, when stationary is a no no as well. I'd get the firms details and ring the local councils Taxi Licensing Officer and make your complaint. Ours are spot on, when they start ringing the firms threatening the withdrawal of licences, they will soon be tap tap tapping on their customers doors with the deftness of a church mouse down so as not to wake you!! |
