1985 Zermatt 'WR'

After some consideration, I am selling this car.

There's a combination of reasons, which primarily come down to
  • I no longer have any workshop space or time to do the work myself
  • There's no one that I can rely on to do the jobs that need some knowledge of the model
  • It needs attending to before it ends up back where it was 5 years ago- bad repairs that will deteriorate.

The car
Late 1985 WR rolled off the production line around Nov '85 , imported to Edinburgh Jan '86.
MOT & Taxed to May 2014
Zermatt silver, complete respray following some major body repairs to undo damage done by the insurance company or previous careless repairs.
G60 front brakes
Scorpion twin box exhaust

Repairs completed- rear o/s arch inner and outer, B-pillar, right inner wing
Repairs needing some more work- Rear ofs arch inner

Interior
Front seats need work on seat heaters, various plastic guides
Rear seats fine
front door cards need to come off and check integrity. Spares available
Rear 'door' cards, left side needs replacing. Spares available

Dash board. It still has the holes from the car phone that the dealer fitted!

bad bits
Mirrors are operating in left-right mode only. and electrical issue is stopping the up-down tilt
Passenger window is stuck shut
The right front wing needs to come off to find out what they have done with the bolt holes, or convert the car back to using the single bonnet stay.
There is a very prominent knock coming from the front suspension

Engine.
Top end was rebuilt using a KG head in 2005.
Much of the work was done by Andy T, (TimC and their rally rec)

Spares
Head lights
Indicator lenses
tail lights
single filament back plates
twin filament backplates

4x front wishbones with super flex
subframes front and rear
gearbox mounts
subframe mounts
Diff mounts
rear track arms
front bottom ball joints
rear bottom ball joints
top mounts
fr. anti-roll bar
set of UR legs in need of refurb
adapters for porsche brakes
Stainless steel brake shields
4x refurbished Ronal R8

Door cards
rear seat 'door' cards
Rear seat base and back

Documents
Theres a substantial amount of paperwork from 'professionals', but quite frankly, it is largely irrelevant as I stopped using these so-called professionals over a decade ago, and simply did the work myself where possible, and sourcing bits from the likes of quattrocorner/south hereford audi/Pete Chimes, so much of the work has been done again over the years, by me.

I can really understand where you are coming from Mark, I really can.... I sometimes think selling the lot and starting again with a different marque is possibly the answer.. Mark, good luck with the sales, and please, if you're ever our way again, feel free to call, you are always welcome.... And don't let the retro fad flash in the pan society beat you.... Just think of those heady days at Knockhill...

Well, after deafening silence, I guess i need to persevere. So, much to my dislike, it is booked in to use someone else's facilities, and determine whether it is to be continued.
