NSU Prinz or 1000

Does anyone on here know to a NSU Prinz 4 or the later/larger 1000 (1200?)

Not expecting to find one for sale, just curious to survival rates.

Just thought, I'm assuming they would be welcome on this forum as they don'y actually carry Audi badges.

They are probably more akin to a Hillman Imp than any Audi.

What you got or what you know?

I ran a NSU 1200SC back in the 70's. Mecanicaly they were superb with a 4 cylinder air cooled engine, each cylinder had it's own individual cam cover. you could rev the nuts of it with no complaints. Much quicker than the equivelant Viva/Escort. A bag of sand in the boot, alway helped to kept the front end down, and reduce understeer.

Rust was the big killer, that why you don't see many around now.

Allways wanted a TTS.

I've been doing a bit of digging and found the Prinz 4 was'nt a 4 at all !

It was a 2cylinder, 600cc, bit like the Fiat 500....

...A 2cylinder Audi, thats something to tell the grandkids!

There was also a swoopy droptop called the Spyder, obviously styled on the Alfa.

More photos please!

There's a superb early 60's NSU spyder on Mobile.de in Germany for sale.

Ultra low mileage and absolutely stunning

My dad had a Prnz 4. The four was a reference to the number of seats. the engine was the same a 1200 with cylinders loped off. You could have run ring round a Fiat 500 with it.

The Spyder had a a rotary engine for a short period, but most were 2 cylinder 600's

I think the only other 2 cylinder car that peformed as well as the prinz 4 was the Honda Z600, at that time.
