4 speed to 5 speed

I need my clutch replacing on my 1.6 petrol 80CL 4 speed.

It is a 190mm clutch.

I have a 5 speed gearbox out of a Coupe GT (1.8 petrol - same as 80 Sport - but longer gearing).

The reverse gear is in the same position.

Will it be a straight swap???

It's a good question - sorry I can't be of much help but I would think that it will fit as a 5 speed was used in the 80 and the front half of the coupe is almost identical (assuming it is a post 1978 model). From my limited experience, I think all of the 5 speed gear boxes between at least 1978 - 1994 were mostly '02' gear boxes. If it were me I would take the old one off and compare the mounting points - the actual mounts may be different - do you have them off the coupe?

Car is in garage, will find out tomorrow if it fits or not.....

Gearbox fits, but I needed the 5 speed linkage. Spent 3 frigging hours crawling about under the spare 80 this afternoon, cos all my tools are in the boot of the 80CL (30 miles away!).

Going to drop it off tomorrow, and hopefully be croozin in 5th before the end of the day!

Well finally. T25 gearbox disintegrated on the way to drop off bits, I forgot the most crucial bit. But I am picking it up tomorrow, with 5 gears!
