Split Bolster
 

does anyone know how to go about repairing a split in the leather on the driver's seat bolster? :confused:

the interior is in very good condition but has one thin split on the driver's seat. it's hardly noticeable and is not gaping open but needs addressing before it starts to get worse. :yikes:

take the seat out to a car trimmers or find a local bar refurbishers that makes bar furniture

there is a wee place in Prestwick I went to to get my seat fixed. You know the Bp garage in Prestwick heading towards the airport? on that yellow chequered patch outside the garage turn right and I think its right again, its a wee upholsteres at the bottom of the lane.

Hadn't thought of bar upholsterers.

There are LOTS of auto upholsterers about - I use this bunch http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/place?...94853814195502 but they're thick on the ground. If it's a split in the leather itself, be prepared to pay labour and materials separately.

tbh id bet they are a bit thin on the ground too but one of the distant family runs aldern upholstery in sheff and he does bar refitting as it were as well as the usual domestic shyte . I have just seen a merc at the bodyshop thats had 4-5k spent on the interior and whilst the leather used is sublime the workmanship is well......cough.....interesting in places

I had some repairs done on the cloth interior of my ur, at a place in Glasgow, a few years ago. They did a pretty good job of it, at reasonable cost.
I saw a couple of the cars that they had renovated or freshly upholstered.

I can't remember their name right now, but I'm sure I wrote about it on quattroforum.

If they are still in business. Found them on Street view, but it might be late summer 2005! that they did the work for me.

thanks for all that info folks. tbh i find the leather interior pretty uncomfortable for my fat arse and tonight have been offered a cloth interior which is much more comfortable from a friend who is breaking a coupe - can you tell me if this is the same interior that you'd find in a quattro?

Not quite, but similar.
At the age of your car, it would be similar to Richards (I think he has cloth!?) A slight tartan pattern.

just LOOK at those gauges!!!!!!! instead i've got "DIFF LOCK" and weird L.E.D. oil pressure gauges!! can one get rid of said "DIFF LOCK" gauges and install said DIALS instead?! they are well COOL!!

Not unless you want to lose all functionality of the difflocks.
This would not be classed as a mod. More of a hack.
