K&N oil filter??
what do people think of these?
i'm thinking of fitting one on my next oil change? (when ever that maybe) http://www.knfilters.com/oilfilter.htm & heres the on for the KV 5 pot: http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...x?Prod=HP-2005 They look pretty cool to me, might add that extra bit of bling under the bonnet... & seem to have a valve in them too! like audi filters do (or so i'm told) ;) not to mention a 1 inch nut for easier removal if stuck. http://kandn.com/images/l/HP-2005.jpg |
Never used one but if its anything like the air filters then youll be ok with one.
Do yourself a favour too. Get a big ring magnet off of a loudspeaker or out of an old hard drive ( theyre neodymium and will squish your fingers they have so muchpower) and attach it to the end ( over the nut) of the filter to further trap magnetic debris. I did this when i rebuilt the golfs engine and after itd been run for a few hours i took it off, cut the filter open and could see the particles sitting on the end of the can. Stops it from being cycled around the filter. :) |
Never had an issue using the original filters. What is supposed to be the advantage of this type?

i was only looking at it from the point of view of a bit of under bonnet detail.. |
.
PMSL!!!!
Yes,I dont know of one person who has bothered buying one of these. Would be good to see some sort of real test comparisons,if one was really BORED!!!:D |
They do look nice, well, as nice as an oil filter can look. Are they mega bucks?
Bet they're a million pounds........ Never seen one, bet its mail order with fifty quid postage. "fffff" K+N! Waste of money. "Release 400 BHP with one of our filters and over priced bracketry!" Few holes in the air box and a reasonably priced panel filter and you're laughing! Sorry, don't know what came over me then... :o |
