Air Mass Meter

Okay, this may be a silly question, but is there an Air Mass Meter on an 80s vintage 5 pot engine?

If so, where would it be?

Not as such because fueling is very largely mechanical - the paddle lifting the plunger, etc.

There's a little ECU control of fueling in the MB/MC engines, but not much.

The K-jet metering head regulates fuel flow using mass of air - could be refered to as Air Mass meter (with some odd 70's German translation perhaps)

But electronic air mass meters (hot film or hot wire) are pretty modern really - not widely used until after way the introduction of catalysts....
