i dont know the car or the owner, but saw this on edition 38 may intrest some of you -

the time has come to sell the audi, plans have changed with the mk2 so have to shift this to fund that.

the car is a true minter and a real head turner, they don't come much minter than this in relatively standard form.

spec
audi 80cl
1.6 petrol engine with 4 speed box
new uprated increase size clutch (original clutches are too small for car and are prone to early failure)
new cambelt
new bosch battery
full service (everything replaced plugs,ht leads, belts, fuel filter, oil and filter etc)
powerflex poly bushed rear axle
brand new 40mm lowering springs throughout
adjustable damping spax rear shockers
new pedal rubbers
new exhaust and rubbers fitted by previous owner (just over a year old)
new brake light switch
all brakes, brake lines and suspension checked over.

the paint is original and overall is good nick, the drivers door has slightly started to spider web in the laquer due to age.

the shell is completly rot free underneath, with no damage to sills or original underseal.

inside the doors are spotless apart from the passenger side that has a spot of surface rust which in honesty is tiny.

the engine bay inner wings are spotless and factory fresh, i gave the dust a wipe off when i bought it and polished and waxed it.

the chrome trims are in excellent condition with no flaking.

the shell is 99% spotless apart from a tiny bit of surface rust under the rear drives side rear light, but for a 28 year old car it is extremely mint.

the interior is factory fresh and was given a wet vac when i bought it, there is no wear to any of the seats, it comes with all the original factory features working including the radio.

mechanicaly the car is spot on, all the work carried out since my purchase has been done by myself (volvo master technician). it runs great and idles perfect with no overheating issues etc. it does have a slight oil leak from the camshaft oil seal but a new seal will be provided with purchase but haven't had time to fit it yet.

the car drives mint and starts first time come rain or shine and is very comfy with plenty of room for passengers, we took it to edition38 this year and it chewed up the miles without any problems. it also has the warmest and quickest heater known to man and can melt your face off.

the car gives very good mpg too and is very economical (i worked it out at about 38 to 40 mpg round town).

the car comes with the original purchase documents and sales brochures. it also comes with various mot certs and the original v5 from the dealer!

it comes with tax until june 2011 with mot to match.

this car would be a perfect start for a concours show car or for someone to use as a daily driver.its also the ideal base for a project and engine conversion (its crying out for a 5cylinder turbo lump). 1.8t lumps from the modern passat will bolt onto the standard audi mounts too.

i want £1750 ono for the car with everything included. pm me if interested. on pistonheads recently worse condition audi 80s were selling for £2000 plus. so grab yourself a mint bargain.

some good pics a friend took.

even comes with Edition 38 pricing.

That's been for sale a few times now and has always been less than half that.

Gouldy 20-12-10 10:51 AM

dreaming on the price massively, just because its low mileage doesnt make it valuable, its still a 1.6 base model nothing special

I don't know why you lot seem to think a car becoming more popular on other sites and therefore pushing up the value is a bad thing, let's face it if they appreciate in value we'd all be happy! How many 80 b2's are left in this condiditon? And yes thats a genuine question not a statement.

I wouldn't say it's down to these cars becoming popular, just people out to make a quick 'scene' buck. The same car has been for sale around 2 or 3 times over the past few years and has changed hands for around £700-£800 each time.

No problem with seeing these cars go up in value, (it all helps my pension fund!!!) but you can still pick these up from other sites (ebay. Classic audi, C&C, Pistonheads etc etc) for less than a grand and in similar condition, but as soon as they appear on E38, the price doubles.

Gouldy 20-12-10 01:26 PM

not many i wouldnt have thought tbh, but then theres not many mint lada rivas and i wouldnt pay £1750 for one of them lol

its not the popularity thing, its the fact something is massively overpriced

harmeetjohal 20-12-10 01:54 PM

wow what have i started...

i think something is only worth what someone is willing to pay...
prices on E38 are always alot higher, but they often fall just as fast...

with the E38 lads they love their VW's and dont know much else about any others... and i think have done everything they can to them... from shoe horning 1.8t engines and air ride into everything...
But as moden Audi's are getting popular and everyone whats to be the first to do something new prices will slowly start to go up :)

prices for a "mint" mk1 fench 4-8k and have seen some go for close to 14k

i think Audi will follow over the nxt few years maybenot to the top end of them prices but i think 3-4k for perfect models

thats my view :ihih: lol
