clutch judder

my Audi 80 TDI has a bad clutch judder on take up in first gear.
This mainly happens first thing in the morning and when parking or stuck in traffic but seems ok in normal driving conditions so wondering if clutch has had it or could it be something else?

Mine does too, now and then and my original type 89 80 back in 96 did it regular on hills.

So a common problem and not worth worrying about then

well in 14 years of driving 4 different Audi 80's, all of which surpassed 100,000 miles on their the original clutches, I've not had to replace one yet - (Touch wood) thats the best info I can give on this one.

Could well be I did 149,000 in one, 159,000 in the second and the current one is on 121,000.

heard some of the newish passats do it to... :wierdo:

dave80 03-08-10 10:29 PM

Yes i heard that to
the dual mass flywheels are suspect on many of the newer vag vehicles and they are very expensive to replace.

Rickman 04-08-10 01:13 AM

if it is duel mass then the judder is from the 2 plates moving on the sandwiched rubber bit.
fooked
if you do replace them, always get a solid flywheel kit.

lost count how many van clutches Ive replaced because of duel-crap
