200 quattro turbo help (new member)

Following on from my post in the newbie section!
1987 200 2.1 turbo quattro.
I have a few questions if any of you audi gurus can help?
I don't appear to have a boost valve fitted to the car, it has nothing connected to the top of the wastegate and has no boost valve. Although no loose vacuum hoses (apart from this one). It would appear to have vacuum issues as it idles rough and probably hasnt had someone who knows what they're doing look at it for a while. it goes ok, boost gauge inside says 1.4 bar.
Sometimes it will idle and sometimes not. I really could do with a vacuum diagram but cannot find one online and its not in the haynes manual.
Also the master cylinder needs fixing/replacing. i have bought the repair kit with the help of Ian (audi200.org) but with the cylinder removed can't removed the circlip holding it all together.
The car will be up for sale either after the trip (if i can get it sorted) or before if i can't so let me know if you are interested.
Thanks in advance!

Hiya
I have the Bentley manuals and will take a look over the next couple of days....I have stripped mine down to break and I cannot recall the boost valve, I will double check.
as for the idle problem, alot are cured by cleaning out the ISV by agitating with clean petrol to get rid of any sludge that may be in there, make sure you dont get the contacts in petrol though..DOH!!
The boost guage should read 1.0 with the ignition switched on ( which reads atmospheric pressure) but you probably know that, it will change when fired up but 1.4 is wrong

Hi I take it that's the idle control valve? It is harder to start when it's hot so I wonder if it's an electrical problem? Where does the vacuum hose from the top of the wastegate go on yours then?

I don't know what you mean by a "boost valve". 1987 was a cross-over year - what's the engine number?

I think it's called the solenoid change over valve and has connections from the wastegate, inlet manifold & the turbo? I don't have this valve fitted. If mine doesn't have this valve where does the pipe from the top of the wastegate go? Car is pre facelift with the earlier 10v engine

Aah, Phil P is on the case so you're in good hands. It's a D reg with sticky-out handles and old style dash so pre-facelift. The part number for the valve referred to is 034 906 283 if it helps anyone.

Nothing is connected to the top of the wastegate....I know it looks like something should by having a connection there but trust me it is designed like that so dont connect anything to it

Almost true for a KG engine. Definitely NOT true for a 1B.

Ok I will refit the hose, is it blanked off or open to the elements? Also I'll clean the idle valve later but get a feeling that's not my problem. It runs lumpy until 2000 rpm or so and seems to idle too low. I'll put new plugs and distributor cap on it as they're not great but it wouldn't cause it to be difficult to start when hot?
