95 coupe Leaking Oi

Hi All,

I've just bought myself a bargain coupe;

1995 N plate 2.0e (8v) auto.

It's been sat in a garage for 9 months with the battery disconnected, I have 1 key, but no 'blipper'.

There are a few problems that I wonder if anyone could help with:

Engine seems to be leaking oil onto manifold...the smell of burning oil is everywhere...again is this an easy fix? Gaskets? I spent this evening trying to mop up pools of it sitting just under the fuel injector line.. on some manifold.

When you turn the interior fan, you get a horrendous smell of burning oil..

Any thoughts?.

It'll be the rocker cover gasket.

They are a nuicassnce on the 2liters, at least they are cheap, and easy to do.

Cheers Dez... it does look like there are small pools on the top manifold..underneath the injector rail..

they usually go at the end near the bulkhead, then it seeps down to near the injectors, they are a few quid from any motor spares shop.

Well.. ordered rubber gasket.

Took all ancilliaries off the top of the engine.... went to undo the first nut at the bulkhead end..... all loose!...2nd nut...loose...

I took them all off and the gasket was fine...just loose nuts!! typical..should check the obvious first!

Changed the gasket anyway and all back together in under an hour! :tup:

good job, even if nuts were loose it wouldnt have made any difference if you tightened them. Once oil gets on the gasket face it'll leak forever.
Just get used to doing it every year or so, seems to be a major weak point. Just remember to take your time and all is good :)

Next job - PAS, Alternator and Timing belts..
